Scitent Selected to Develop Global Online Learning for AAAS, World's Largest General Scientific Society

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA --(Marketwired - May 24, 2016) - Scitent, Inc., a full-service eLearning company dedicated to the growth of an organization's eLearning business, has been selected by the world's largest general scientific society, American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), to launch its Career Development Center, an online learning site for AAAS Science members and non-members around the world.

"The Career Development Center is a key part of AAAS' mission of advancing science, engineering and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all people," noted Beth Bush, AAAS Chief Membership Officer. "Our online courses will improve the ability of scientists and engineers to advance professionally, and enhance their ability to make an impact on the world around them."

AAAS will utilize Scitent's full suite of services and in-house experts to create its eLearning business, including instructional design, course development, distribution and LMS technology, sales and marketing, eCommerce, call center and financial services and reporting.

AAAS' new Career Development Center offers online courses that address the skills AAAS members need at different stages of their science careers. Currently, there are two courses available to members, Avoiding Common Errors in Proposal Writing and Understanding the Federal R&D Budget. Additional courses are planned in 2016 that will augment STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education. According to Alex Torres, Director of Professional Development and Career Services at AAAS, the learning addresses a range of challenges AAAS members experience.

"Scitent looks forward to helping AAAS realize its vision to grow membership through leadership and innovation in education for scientists and engineers in both the academic and private sectors, and even reaching out to the general, science-interested public," said Vicky Mossman, Scitent's VP of Partner Development. "Scitent's health and science background, combined with our proven ability to distribute content across the globe to existing and potential new members, makes Scitent uniquely positioned to help AAAS grow and manage its entire eLearning business."
