It only took a reunion tour to get them here, but LCD Soundsystem will finally be making their St. Louis debut this summer at LouFest, the locally-produced event held Sept. 10-11 in the city’s leafy Forest Park. James Murphy’s electro-rock outfit, back so soon after a brief retirement, will share headliner status with two of the realest artists in their respective genres: hard country star Chris Stapleton and R&B/soul stylist Lauryn Hill.

Now in its seventh year, LouFest will tap into its indie rock roots with acts including Band of Horses, The Kills, Diarrhea Planet, Twin Peaks and (St. Louis’ own) Foxing. Stone-cold blues icon Buddy Guy is also on the 35-act bill, as is funk/soul favorite Charles Bradley, “livetronica” stars Big Gigantic, Americana artist Shakey Graves and New Orleans jazz celebrants Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

Produced by Listen Live Entertainment, the festival has been experiencing a growth spurt of late, attracting 50,000 over two days in 2015 and 36,000 in 2014. LLE’s Mike Van Hee is calling this a “landmark year” for the event. “Our concertgoers have shown an intense desire to see the very best in global entertainment here, and Forest Park offers the perfect venue to host a distinctly St. Louis event,” he said.

Part of the strategy to better connect LouFest with its host city is the more than doubling of area acts on the bill. Instead of last year’s three bands, organizers are bringing in seven from around town: Foxing, Bruiser Queen (see below), Aaron Kamm & the One Drops, John Henry, Karate Bikini, illphonics and The Sleepy Rubies.

Tickets go on sale today at 9 a.m. CT through www.loufest.com/tickets. Two-day passes cost $95, while VIP passes are $350. Sponsors this year include Bud Light, Uber, BMI, Pearl Vodka, Tunespeak and Kaldi’s Coffee.
