Mario Balotelli offered way out of Liverpool by newly promoted Crotone

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has been urged to join Serie A new boys Crotone next season by the club's president to get his career back on track.

Crotone were promoted to Serie A this season and Raffaele Vrenna believes his club, from Italy's Calabria region, would be just the right place for Balotelli to rediscover his best form.

"I was asked recently about a player who needs to get back to his best and I believe that we could get Balotelli back to his best," Vrenna said in Gazzetta dello Sport. "He has not yet shown his full value and he's a heritage of Italian football.

"We would even be willing to give him the captain's armband, and of course he would also score 25 goals."

Balotelli scored just one goal in 20 Serie A appearances while on loan at AC Milan this season, and the Rossoneri do not appear likely to take up the option to make his move from Liverpool permanent.

The 25-year-old's last appearance of his loan spell was as a substitute in Sunday's Coppa Italia final defeat to Juventus, while on Monday he has not been included in Italy's squad for Euro 2016.

Balotelli still has a year left to run on his contract at Anfield, although the Reds do not seem keen to keep him either, making another transfer this summer likely.

Crotone have just joined Italy's top flight for the first time, becoming only the third club from Calabria after Reggina and Catanzaro to play in Serie A. However, Vrenna has largely built his side on signing out-of-contract players and taking others on loan.

Their top goal scorer this season with 16 goals, Ante Budimir, arrived on a season-long loan from St. Pauli and that that move will be made permanent this summer for a pre-agreed sum of €1 million.

"We've given him a three-year contract after taking him permanently from St. Pauli," Vrenna told AdnKronos. "I hope he'll stay in Crotone because he's got further margin for growth here."
