Thrissur girl accidentally swallows SIM card

NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old girl in Thrissur accidentally swallowed a sim card she was holding when discussing the election results with her parents.
Aswathy was elated the Left regained power, was watching the election result on television and was discussing it with her parents. In the heat of the moment, she swallowed the card that was in her hand.
The girl was fed fruit and other fibrous food in the hope the card would be ejected out of her body along with her stool.That didn't help.
Aswathy had to be operated on after she developed breathing problems. A CT scan showed the card was stuck in her lungs. If the scan hadn't been done she may have died.
The doctors operated and took the SIM card out and Aswathy was discharged from the hospital on Monday.
