Severe heat wave continues to scorch the city as the temperature crosses 46 degree Celsius mark. In this summer madness, many people prefer to stay indoors, but there are others who venture out to find solace near various lakes of Nagpur and indulge in some fun activities to beat the heat in style. Shukrawari Lake
Interesting fact: Located near Raman Science Centre, this lake is enclosed with stonewalls and iron railing.
There is a small island in the middle of the lake with a Shiva temple and a garden with huge palm trees which add picturesque dimensions to its serene aura.
Discover its charm: Nature’s bounty is quite evident here and that’s why the lake is touted as a favourite recreational spot for the parched souls who unwind and beat the scorching heat in its pristine beauty. Many people enjoy morning walks, jogging and exercises here.

Food for thought: Right outside the garden, there are vendors selling aloe vera juice and plenty of health drinks which are very popular among the health conscious people. There are several vendors selling ice golas and kulfis here, which bring respite in this maddening heat.
Ambazari Lake
Interesting fact: The lake has an overflow point where a grand statue of Swami Vivekananda has been installed. Though the construction is still underway, many youngsters and collegians flock to the spot to click selfies during sunset from the point.

Gorewada Lake

Discover its charm: Bordered by forest, Gorewada Lake is a paradise for nature lovers who enjoy spending time in its wilderness. The lake was created out of a 2,350 feet dam which was mainly used as the source for drinking water.

Interesting fact: Futala Lake is a habitat of rich aquatic life including water hyacinth, lotus, water lily, hydria among others. Varieties of crab and rohu fish from the lake are much in demand.
Discover its charm: Colloquially termed as ‘Mini Chaupati’, this lake is the favourite adda for young and young at heart. Built by the Bhonsle kings, the lake has a rich history to explore. Satpuda Garden near the lake is favoured by city lovebirds. The garden also has a viewing deck from where one can sit and enjoy the beautiful view of the lake.
Fun element: Enjoy tanga rides in the evening and indulge in recreational activities like trampoline jumps.
