Bollywood celebrities have time and again spoken about ‘feminism’. While many have been close to deciphering the correct meaning by inches, others have beaten around the bush with vague statements. Definitions of various concepts and theories differ from individual to individual but silence is always the best answer in case you know nothing about it. Many actresses gave their piece of mind about feminism and while some managed to strike the right chord, for few of them the statements backfired because they were shallow and they lacked facts.

Till today basic questions around 'feminism' like the 'meaning of feminism', 'can males me feminists too', 'is desiring equal rights for men and women called feminism' and so on have open-ended answers which again makes it a highly debatable topic.

Feminism

Hindi films are brutally scanned by several feminist groups and politicians because of 'crappy' item songs and 'sexist' dialogues, but it never stopped Hindi cinema from experimenting. We stumbled upon this particular scene from Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do which pretty much summed up the kind of doubts we all have regarding the idea of feminism.

Previously, Zoya also spoke about one of the scenes from her film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara which proved that she is not someone who easily compromises on her beliefs and views as a filmmaker.

While most of us think that if a woman is ‘allowed’ to work after marriage it means that she is empowered or ‘equal’ to her husband, it's time to get a reality check, which Zoya’s scene does perfectly.

Priyanka Chopra and Rahul Bose

The scene between Manav (Ayesha’s bossy husband played by Rahul Bose), Kabir (Ayesha’s ex-boyfriend played by Farhan) and Ayesha herself (Priyanka Chopra) will remove your blindfold about feminism and more. Have a look

Dear Zoya, we feel you!
