134 tonsure head to celebrate Amma’s victory- in 134 constituencies

CHENNAI: As many as 134 members of the AIADMK shaved their heads to celebrate the victory of Jayalalithaa who took charge as Tamil Nadu chief minister for the sixth time on Monday.
While Amma's supporters shaving their heads is nothing new, the number 134 is significant. It's the exact number of the constituencies her party won in the state Assembly election.
The AIADMK won 134 seats in the 232 Assembly and the opposition, including the DMK and its allies Congress and IUML, won 98 seats.
The 134 ardent Amma followers, after shaving their heads, visited the CM's residence in Poes garden, but she could not meet them.
Other Amma followers, too, found novel ways to mark the occasion.
Mathivanan, a 45-year-old autorickshaw driver charged only one rupee to travel anywhere wihin the city. More than 80 passengers availd of his discounted rate, Mathivanan said.
On Jayalalithaa's 68th birthday this year, 668 party members got a tattoo of Jayalalithaa on their hands. Another man reportedly swam for an hour using the back-stroke with an AIADMK flag in his mouth.
