Mangaluru: Kolya Sri Mookambika Peeta seer Sri Ramananda Swamy breathed his last on Monday after a brief illness.
The 66-year-old seer was involved in religious, educational and social works. The seer was instrumental in empowering the poor, especially dalit families, by providing education and necessary support. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in the city.

Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade mourned the death of seer. Recalling the services rendered by the seer to the society, Heggade said, "His services to society, religion in particular, are noteworthy. The society has lost a philanthropist."
MLC Ganesh Karnik said the death of seer is an irrecoverable loss to the Hindu society. "The seer created awareness among Hindus on religious unity. He has won hearts of thousands through his social services," Karnik said.
