Boat caught in rough sea near Pakistan rescued

Rajkot: A ten-member crew of cargo vessel Shahe Al-Bukhari, owned by Siddique Talab Subhaniya, of Jam-Salaya town in Jamnagar, was rescued along with the vessel after it got caught in turbulent weather in Arabian Sea near the Pakistan Maritime Border on Friday late night.
According to Adam Bhaya, secretary, Salaya Sailing Vessels Owners Association, the vessel was returning from Oman port to Jam-Salaya with 10 crew members.

"It sent out distress signal after it caught in rough and water started entering into the vessel. All 10 crew members were trying to pump out water with five pumping machines to save the vessel. The crew contacted us on May 20 late night, following which we informed the Indian Coast Guard and sent messages to nearby vessels seeking help," Bhaya said.
"We came to know that two other vessels -- Al-Usmanegani and Al-Qatari (both were from Jam-Salaya) -- were also returning to Jam-Salaya through same sea route. They were informed about the distressed vessel asked to help the crew members," said Bhaya.
Meanwhile, an oil tanker Tamagawa was in vicinity of the distressed vessel and it reached first and helped the crew members. Tamagawa crew members also pumped out water from the vessel. Al-Bukhari then sailed safely to Jam-Salaya on Sunday night. "If the oil tanker would not have helped, the Rs 90 lakh vessel would have sunk along with 10 crew members," he added added.
