Fans protest against delay in setting up Vishnu memorial
Hubballi: Hundreds of fans of late Vishnuvardhan, under the banner of Akhil Karnataka Dr Vishnuvardhan Abhimanigala Sangh, on Monday took out a rally from Sangolli Rayanna Circle, condemning the delay in setting up a memorial of Sandalwood icon Vishnuvardhan.
They submitted a memorandum to the state government through Hubballi tahsildar. They said that the movie icon was involved in various social service activities and the government is insulting the actor by shifting his tomb to Mysuru.
"This move is hurting the sentiments of crores of fans of the actor. If the government wants a memorial in Mysuru, it can establish another one there. However, the memorial proposed in Bengaluru should remain there," they said.
The protesters warned that if the government failed in resolving the issue, Vishnuvardhan fans will teach a lesson to the Congress in the next assembly election.
Sangh leaders Mahantesh Mathad, Srikant Dambal, Dilip Kumar, Gurudatt Tagargunti, Maruti Gollar, corporator Shivanand Muttannavar and others were present on the occasion.
