MULTAN-The PPP strategy is raising questions about its role as on the one hand leader of the opposition sits with the opposition parties while one the other hand, former premier Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif are holding meetings behind closed doors.
Central leader of PTI Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi stated while addressing the participants of a dinner organised in his honour by a local party leader here on Monday. He added that on one hand PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari called Nawaz Sharif a thief, dacoit and plunderer while on the other hand former President Zardari assured Nawaz Sharif of his full support.
He said that the nature of politics in KPK is different from the rest of the country and it is very difficult to understand the mentality of the residents of this province. He said that the PTI could not turn KPK into a role model because it had been under rule of corrupt elements since long. He said that Imran strived to bring change in KPK and his efforts succeeded to some extent.
Referring to Panama Leaks, he said that the issue had got further complex and only one person possessed the wisdom to resolve this issue. “The nation knows him as Imran Khan,” he added.
He said that Imran Khan is sincere to hold intra-party elections as he wants to bring forth an eligible and ideological leadership. He said that it is unfortunate that when the PTI is all set to hold party elections at the end of membership drive, the issue of Panama Leaks surfaced and it forced the party leadership to postpone the elections. “But still our membership campaign is underway and we’ll hold the party elections whatsoever,” he declared.
FIRE INCIDENT: A sudden fire at the Main Switching Control Room of a cellular company shut down its service, silencing the phones of its consumers for over 24 hours. Sources said that the fire took place at the control room of the company located in Hassan Parwana Colony on the night between Sunday and Monday. Resultantly, all electronic equipment at the control room got burnt as a result of which mobile phone service to over 60 cities linked to Multan region got suspended. Rescue 1122 sources said that the fire fighters put out the fire after hectic efforts of over four hours.
