Islamabad - President Mamoon Hussain yesterday reassured people of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) that no reforms would be imposed on them without their consent.
The President made this assurance to a representative delegation including parliamentarians and tribal elders from seven agencies called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan also attended the meeting.
President Mamnoon stated that the government has allocated a large sum for resettlement of displaced persons. He said that operation Zarb-e-Azb has produced positive results and situation is returning to normalcy in seven agencies of FATA.
The President lauded the immense sacrifices of the people of FATA and said that reforms committee of the government is working on priority basis for the betterment of FATA. “The situation of FATA will improve further after introducing reforms there,” remarked the President. President Mamnoon emphasised that no constitutional change will be introduced without taking the people of FATA into confidence.
The President underlined that the government would leave no stone unturned in rehabilitation of infrastructure in FATA destroyed as a result of terrorist activities. President Mamnoon said that development of education institutions, road networks and construction of hospitals are basic priorities of the Government adding that maximum employment opportunities would be created in tribal areas. The President noted that the youth of FATA has immense potential and they can bring laurels by equipping them with modern education.
President Mamnoon stated that it is the responsibility of the Government to resolve the problems of tribal areas but problems are being faced due to limited resources. The President called for paying attention to female education in tribal areas so that they are able to play a positive role in development.
President Mamnoon stated that the Government is working in the right direction, which has improved the situation of the national economy.
