Abhayam finds 'missing' woman, girls aboard train
Ahmedabad: A woman, in her early forties, left her Bhavnagar home in a huff with her daughter and niece - aged 17 and 15 - without telling anybody on Sunday evening. Her husband approached the 181 Abhayam helpline and said that he was worried about their safety as the woman left home after a fight.
"He did not have any idea about where she might be, as she had not taken her phone with her.
He had a feeling that she may have left for Mumbai, her parents' home, and as she did not have much money. It was probable that she may have taken a train. We immediately checked the time-table and found that her absence coincided with the timing of the Bhavnagar-Bandra Express," said a 181 counsellor.
On a hunch that she may be aboard the train, a team in Surendranagar was informed as the train was approaching Joravarnagar, a station on the route, at 8.30 pm. The 181 officials requested railway officials to stop the train for a little longer so they could look inside all the coaches but as it was turned down. The team then devised a new strategy.
"It was a five-minute affair as we assigned one person with a photograph to check two coaches each in the quickest way possible. Fortunately, she was spotted. She was reluctant to go back to her husband's home so she was counselled. She revealed that she had got a cell phone recently without her husband's knowledge. When he learned about it, there was a major fight after which she had left the home," said a 181 official.
