Traders stall Allahabad Municipal Corporation's anti-encroachment drive in Civil Lines, demand amenities

Allahabad: The demolition squad of Allahabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had to retreat in Civil Lines area on Monday after protest from the businessmen. They demanded that before undertaking demolition drive and removing encroachments, AMC should hold a meeting with them and also ensure proper civic amenities in the area.
When the squad, accompanied by bulldozers, JCB machines and trucks, reached Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Civil Lines, the businessmen raised objections to the drive.
They complained that Nawab Yusuf Road has been dug up more than a month back for laying of pipelines but no arrangements have been made to repair the road.
The businessmen that that AMC should first provide civic amenities and then launch anti-encroachment drives.
