NEW DELHI: Intelligence agencies have launched a probe to ascertain who from the two terrorist organisations, Islamic State (IS) and AnsarUd-Tawhid Fi Bilad Al Hind (AuT) formed by IM rebels, had got in touch with former Indian Mujahideen chief Yasin
Bhatkal, currently lodged in Tihar jail.
The action follows the report published in the May 14 edition of TOI that three recruits of India’s IS wing, Junud al Khalifa-e-Hind (JKH) — Ashiq Ahmad alias Raja, Mohammad Abdul Ahad and Mohammad Afzal — had disclosed that they had been asked to free Bhatkal.
This has been linked to the phone call made by Bhatkal from jail to his wife last June wherein he had assured her that help was soon coming from Damascus and he would be out soon. All those who met Bhatkal after his arrest, including his family members, are being scanned for clues.
