Pimp held, woman rescued from prostitution

Calangute: The Calangute police, on Saturday night, rescued a woman from a prostitution racket and arrested a pimp who was living off her earnings.
Calangute police told TOI that they received information that a pimp would be arriving to deliver a girl to a customer for the purpose of prostitution at a prearranged spot, following which they laid a trap and nabbed the accused, Pappu Kamta, 25, and rescued the victim.The raid was conducted between 10.30pm and 11.45pm on Saturday night. Pappu is a native of Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. An offence has been registered under Sections 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
