MAFUTSENI – Nina Ehlen was the first lady to cross the finish line in the 100km Dups Mafutseni Classic.

The 25-year-old finished in 3:38:50 hours, while runner-up Carol Du Pont finished a minute later. Ehlen said she was happy to win the race as she specialised in Mountain Bike yet this was a road race. “I’m so happy with my results and I never thought I would be champion as I focus on Mountain Bike. I was competing with Carol Du Pont and she really gave me a tough time,” she said. Du Pont said it was a tough race.

“It was windy but the route was good. Ehlen got the better of me towards the finish, otherwise it was an open race,” Du Pont said.

Youngsters shine

MAFUTSENI – The duo of Lungani and Precious Jele were the youngest winners in the Dups Mafutseni Classic.

They were both presented with trophies and T-shirts for their brave showing in the 10km race. Newcom Wheels Chairman Mbusi Motsa, who presented the duo with their prizes, said they were happy that some youngsters were showing great love for the sport.

“We are happy that the race attracted both young and old and the attendance was good. We are confident that next year more parents will allow their children to take part in such events. They are the future of the sport and we welcome them,” Motsa said.

The youngsters said they were both happy to be part of the race and they would be back next year.
They said they would attend other races because they had started collecting medals and trophies.
