Jammu, May 23
The National Conference (NC) today staged a protest outside the Public Health Engineering headquarters to lodge protest against erratic supply of drinking water.
The National Conference also criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition government for taking sadistic pleasure in the woes of people by denying them basic services, especially during the ongoing scorching summer months.
“The government has failed on all fronts and lack of political will and direction has made the administration rudderless, as a result of which governance is at its lowest ebb,” National Conference leaders said and cautioned the divisional administration, especially service-providing departments, to realise their responsibilities and ensure basic services to the people.
Addressing the protesters, National Conference district president, Jammu, Urban, Dharamvir Singh Jamwal reiterated that the NC could not remain a mute spectator to the agonies of the people and would knock every door to seek redress of their problems.
Dharamvir Singh Jamwal expressed anguish over the shortage of water in various places across the district and urged the divisional administration to constitute a team to review the situation and suggest corrective measures so that the people get some respite.
Dharamvir Singh Jamwal also expressed anguish over the lackadaisical approach of the coalition partners, saying that they were behaving like ostrich and caring two hoots for the people.
