Kullu, May 23

Members of the Four-lane Sangharsh Samiti held a protest rally at Kullu today. They took out a protest march from the Exhibition Ground to the DC office and submitted a memorandum to the state and Centre through the DC.

Mandi MP Ram Swaroop Sharma and Manali MLA Govind Singh Thakur also joined the protest rally.

President of the samiti Brig Khushal Thakur (retd) alleged that while the government had framed negotiation committee for fixation of adequate compensation, rehabilitation and resettlement benefits to provide transparency to the entire procedure of land acquisition, the NHAI had already processed tenders based on circle rates in many regions at Kullu.

He added that if the government was firm on providing adequate compensation, tender process should be revoked till some concrete steps were taken by the negotiation committee and people affected by four-laning of the Nagchala to Manali stretch of the NH-21.
