Thirty persons were injured in two different road accidents at two different places falling under Nagrota Bagwan police station during the last 24 hours, the police said here today.
Kangra Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Surender Kumar Sharma said 29 persons were injured when the driver of a cargo jeep (HP-68 1400), carrying 29 persons from Tharu village to Dhaloon, lost control of it on a sharp curve near Balder and the jeep overturned leaving all the occupants, including the driver, injured.
The SDPO said all of them were on way to Dhaloon village to attend the last rites of one of their relatives. He said 24 injured were rushed to the Nagrota Bagwan hospital and five others with fractures and serious injuries were admitted to the Dr Rajendra Prasad Govt Medical College at Tanda.
The SDPO said the police had registered a case under Sections 279 and 337, IPC, against jeep driver Vikas Kumar and arrested him. He said investigation was in progress.
He said in another accident one person, identified as Ankush of Mamta, was injured when he rammed his motorcycle (HP-40-C-7729) into a Maruti van (HP-68 4002) at Pathiar yesterday.
The police have registered a case against Ankush. The inured youth was admitted to hospital.
Chamba bus mishap death toll rises to 17
Chamba: Four more persons, injured in the Chamba bus mishap, succumbed today increasing the death toll to 17. The accident had taken place near the Chamera Dam in Chamba on Friday. According to reports, the injured were undergoing treatment at Pathankot, Tanda medical college, Dalhousie, and a few other hospitals. The bus was carrying 45 passengers at the time of the accident.
