New Delhi, May 24 (UNI) Delhi Union of Journalists(DUJ) and the Press Unity Centre has demanded for a “Save Journalism and Save Press Workers Day” during the coming monsoon session of the Parliament. On common demand, DUJ has called for a united front of various journalists bodies, following its May Day resolution and interactive meetings with members. The body, in a statement, said it has taken a strong note of the fact that a jungle law type situation prevails in the industry following non-implementation of the Majithia Wage Board Award in a majority of establishments. Simultaneously, it has taken note of a spate of press bashings, increasing contractual labour, delay in payments to freelancers and the fact that wage awards are not being implemented for the last 2-3 years and the fact that a new wage board is due.
