Tourists spent more time and money in Korea last year

Tourists who visited Korea in 2015 stayed longer and spent more compared to the previous year, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Monday. Visitors to Korea stayed an average of 6.6 days, which is 0.5 days more than the previous year. Each tourist on average spent $1,712.5, or $107 more than the previous year. Those who came as part of a tour group spent more than those who came individually. On average, each tourist in a tour group spent $1,908 whereas those who traveled alone spent $1,673. Tourists who used airtel services, where travel agencies book only the round-trip flights and hotels, spent an average of $1,286. Among those who traveled to Korea, 46.1 percent visited the country more than twice. Those who visited the country more than four times accounted for 21.9 percent. By country, Japanese tourists were the most likely to visit Korea more than twice as they accounted for 78.7 percent. Singaporeans came in second place at 60.6 percent followed by tourists from Hong Kong at 59 percent.
