The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has said it has received confirmation from the Health Service Executive that all vacant nursing posts in emergency departments will be filled.
It said the assurance was given today at the Workplace Relations Commission during the third review of the Emergency Department Agreement, which was reached in January and which averted industrial action.
The agreement provides for the filling of over 144 staff nurse posts.
The confirmation from the HSE comes despite its recent announcement of a pause in recruitment.
The WRC will convene the parties again on 25 July for the fourth review and begin preparing for the autumn/winter period.
