BRO clears 02.snow; Manali-Leh NH opens for traffic after 6 months

Shimla, May 23 (UNI) After six months, Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on Sunday opened Manali-Leh National Highway, one of the highest altitude strategic road in the world.
"Manali-Leh national highway was cleared of snow and opened for traffic this morning, said officer of Lahaul District Administration and added that Leh to Keylong highway could be opened by next 15 days as snow clearing operation is over. Last year, the same road was made operational on June 13.
The road was closed for seven months as the area was snowbound and BRO men worked tirelessly for three months in freezing cold conditions to open the road, BRO official said.
