MADRID – Jury selection is underway in a southern Spain courtroom for the trial of a Slovakian model charged with the fatal shooting a British millionaire at his home in the beach resort of Estepona two years ago.
The trial of 26-year-old Mayka Marica Kukucova started Monday in Malaga and was expected to last for at least three days.
She was the former girlfriend of 48-year-old Andrew Bush, who owned a jewelry store in Britain before moving to Spain.
Prosecutors have said Kukucova shot him three times on April 5, 2014, a month after the couple broke up, when he returned home with a Russian girlfriend.
The Diario Sur newspaper reported that Kukucova's lawyer says Bush confronted her with a gun, the two struggled and it went off.
