Power Grid Corp shares jumps over 2 per cent on inclusion in BSE Sensex

Power Grid Corp of India shares jumped over 2 per cent in morning trade on Monday after it replaced state-run BHEL from the BSE’s benchmark Sensex from June 20.

Power Grid Corporation of India reported 32.90 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 1807.77 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 against Rs 1355.64 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

Power Grid Corp of India shares jumped over 2 per cent in morning trade on Monday after it replaced state-run BHEL from the BSE’s benchmark Sensex from June 20.

At 11.11 am, the share price of the company was trading 2.04 per cent up at Rs 147.30. The scrip opened at Rs 145.20 and has touched a high and low of Rs 147.45 and Rs 145.05, respectively, in trade so far. Later, the scrip ended 2.56 per cent up at Rs 148.05.

Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd were trading 0.46 per cent down at Rs 118.70 at 11.17 am.

The changes are announced by Asia Index, a joint venture between S&P Dow Jones Indices LLC and BSE. The move is a part of Asia Index’s semi-annual reconstitution results.

Moreover, as many as seven firms would be replaced on BSE 200 index, while 20 companies would be excluded from BSE 500. Companies like Syndicate Bank, Cairn India, Indiabulls Real Estate, Oriental Bank of Commerce, UCO Bank, Allahabad Bank and Jaiprakash Associates would be excluded from BSE-200.

Those moving in BSE-200 include Jet Airways (India) Ltd, IDFC Bank, Aditya Birla Nuvo, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, Welspun India and Sanofi India.
