Didn't kill Chatra scribe, says TPC
Ranchi: Tritiya Prastuti Committee, a CPI(Maoist) splinter group, said on Sunday it did not kill television journalist Indradeo Yadav alias Akhilesh Singh. In a press communiqué released on Sunday, TPC commander Nawal blamed police for misleading people.
Yadav was shot dead by unidentified men in Chatra on May 12. On May 17, police said the murder was executed on TPC commander Mukesh Ganjhu's order after Yadav, who was a local contractor, failed to cough up Rs 7 lakh.
Ganjhu is absconding.
"We condemn the murder. We have sympathies for the family. The police investigation is not fair and police are trying to hide facts from people," the communiqué read and claimed that a probe by the outfit found that "no TPC comrade was involved".
Accusing police of falsely implicating Ganjhu, Nawal said in the press communiqué that the cops knew the truth but were not revealing it. The letter described Chatra as a peace-loving district.
Suraj Ganjhu alias Suraj Shaw, the political representative of BJP MLA from Simaria Ganesh Ganjhu, besides two others - Jhaman Shaw and Birbal Shaw - have been arrested in Yadav's murder case. Chatra SP Anjani Kumar Jha rubbished Tritiya Prastuti Committee's claims.
"The arrests were made on the basis of circumstantial and electronic evidence. We will present the evidence in court," he said, adding, "We will also arrest Mukesh Ganjhu. Raids are on."
