Noida: Two months after businessman Mohit Chaddha (28) was shot dead in his SUV by two bike-borne men in Sector 44, police claimed that he was killed by the assailants for money. The two accused are already in police custody in a separate case and they have admitted to the murder, the police said.
Chaddha, a mobile accessories distributor, was shot dead on March 7 while returning to his home in Nyay Khand, Indirapuram from his office in Sector 44, Noida.

ASP Noida, Guarav Grover said, assistant superintendent of police, Noida, the accused admitted that they had fired at Mohit Chaddha when he resisted the robbery bid. The accused have been identified as are Daulat Nai, a resident of Salempur in Greater Noida, and Pankaj, a resident of Loni, Ghaziabad. Police also seized the weapons used in the crime, . The criminals had hidden by them near Hajipur underpass.
On the day of murder, Chaddha's friend Ashwini Tyagi alias Ashu was driving the SUV while he was sitting by his side. "When they reached near Amrapali Sapphire housing society, two bike-borne criminals approached them from the left side. The two asked them some address. When Chaddha rolled down the window, the criminals opened fire at him. The bullet hit his stomach," said police. They fled with Chaddha's bag which had nearly Rs 2 lakh.

Though the men also opened fire at Ashu, he escaped by a whisker. the police, Ashu drove the SUV to Fortis Hospital where doctors declared Chaddha as brought dead. A case was registered at Sector 39 police station.
Meanwhile, four days later, on March 11, an executive of a Delhi-based ceramics company was shot at in Sector 15A after he prevented two bike-borne criminals from fleeing with his laptop bag. The man sustained bullet wounds in his hand and abdomen and was rushed to a private hospital in Noida.
The passersby nabbed a criminal, Pankaj and handed him over to cops. The pillion rider, Daulat Nai, managed to flee from the spot. However, he later surrendered before Surajpur court in a separate case of robbery. The Sector 20 police station, meanwhile, sought their custody and interrogated them on their crime history. "During interrogation, they revealed that they had opened fire at a person in Sector 44 a few days ago," said police.
Since Sector 44 comes under Sector 39 police station area, the police there took the duo's custody for a day and interrogated them. The accused then admitted that they had made a recce of Chaddha's path and knew that he would be travelling with money.
The police also said that Ashu and Chaddha were business partners who imported accessories from Hong Kong and China.
