Ahmedabad: A 17-year-old teen has filed a complaint of attempt to murder at Sabarmati police station against his 39-year old mother.
The teen has accused his mother of trying to strangulate him to death. Police questioned the victim and the accused in the case on Sunday.
According to Sabarmati police, hearing cries of Shyam (name changed), a resident of an apartment in old Kabir Chowk, neighbours rushed to the spot and found his mother Kavita (name changed), 39, sitting on his stomach, strangulating him and hurling abuses at him.

The neighbours pulled them apart and intimated police.
Primary check also revealed bite marks on Shyam's right hand.
"In his statement with police Shyam has mentioned that he studies in class XI at a school in Sabarmati and lives with his mother. His mother had lodged a complaint of rape against his father. After this his father had parted ways and was living separately. While his father supports his education, Kavita's parents support her in running the house," said a Sabarmati police official.

Altercations between Shyam and his mother started when he got a smartphone as a gift from his father last week.
Kavita did not like it and suspected that the phone was a means to get in touch with Shyam and keep tabs on goings on at home. The mother and son had argued bitterly over this and Shyam alleged his mother had was beaten up. When her parents tried to intervene Kavita also allegedly roughed them up too.
"On Saturday, Shyam was busy with his phone when Kavita slapped him and snatched the phone from him. When Shyam protested, she pinned him on the floor and tried to strangulate him. She allegedly told him that even if she has to go to jail, she would not spare him," said a police source.
AJ Gondaliya, inspector of Sabarmati police station, said that they have recorded statements of the victim and the accused and the woman doesn't seem mentally unstable.
"It might be acute anger that might have triggered the incident. Further investigation is on," he said.
