Britney Spears Billboard Music Awards Performance Both Praised And Mocked

Britney Spears probably realizes that you simply cannot please everybody by now. Her opening performance at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards was just as polarizing as anything she has ever done. Entertainment Weekly describes her show-opening performance.
“Britney Spears brought her nearly two decades of hit pop songs to the stage for a career-spanning medley at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night. Spears, who didn’t play any new songs as many had expected, tore through ‘Work Bitch,’ ‘Womanizer,’ a cover of ‘I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll,’ ‘Breathe on Me,’ ‘I’m a Slave 4 U,’ ‘Touch of My Hand,’ and ‘Toxic.'”
Billboard noted that Spears also took home the Billboard Millennium Award, one that has only been given to Beyoncé and Whitney Houston. Some of the commenters after the article enjoyed Britney’s show.
“People will always hate on her, but I thought she killed it. And I don’t care that she was lip-syncing, especially because she was dancing better than I’ve seen in years. The only thing I wish is that she would’ve done a few of her bigger songs, but still. Great job!” says @GreenTrumpet.
“I’ve grown up listening to Britney and that whole era of pop music, so I am biased. I will literally watch and be happy with anything she does. Her body was fire and I was excited,” claims @OrangeCherries.
However, many of the comments on Facebook weren’t very flattering. Facebook users seem to think that Britney Spears dialed in a lot of the performance and that she just doesn’t dance like she used to. The comments on Twitter weren’t much better.

However, there were some people on Twitter who defended Ms. Spears.

Billboard recently did an interview with Britney’s hairdresser a couple days before the show. He told the magazine that Ms. Spears will be wearing something sexy and effortless. Lorenzo Martin said he will blow her hair dry with a medium-size round brush and then set her hair in large hot rollers, which will ensure the style will last all night long. Judging from Britney Spears’ look tonight, it’s obvious his efforts paid off.
“The 34-year-old songstress was meant to be releasing ‘Make Me (Oooh)’ in a matter of days but due to ‘technical production difficulties,’ she’s been forced to push back the release date. Now it’s set to hit shelves at the end of this summer.”
Let’s hope Britney Spears can score a hit this time. In 2013, Britney Spears’ released Britney Jean and it became the biggest flop of her career, despite being released around Christmas time. Still, Britney Spears’ residency in Las Vegas has been a huge hit and even though haters are going to hate, Britney Spears will always be relevant.
