Special ‘puja’ was performed under the auspices of Sri Sankara Mutt at Mahendramangalam near Musiri to mark Sri Paramacharya Jayanthi on Sunday.

It was at this village that Sri Paramacharya stayed for about three years for learning Vedas during three years till 1914 after becoming the head of the Kanchi Mutt. Special Ekadasi Rudhram, Upanishad Parayanam, Rudhra japa homam were performed.

Special abhishekam were performed to the idols of Sri Adi Sankarar and Sri Paramacharya.

Special pujai is being held daily at the shrine dedicated to Sri Paramachaya on the banks of the Cauvery. Pamphlets are also available about the association of Sri Paramacharya with this tiny village Mahendramangalam.
