Civic officials embark on constructing 1,000 water harvesting structures in various parts of Karimnagar

The officials of Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar (MCK), under the leadership of Mayor S. Ravinder Singh, have embarked on an ambitious task of constructing 1,000 water harvesting structures in various parts of the town.

Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar, legislator Gangula Kamalakar, MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, Mayor and others formally launched the work near Vinayaka temple at Prakasham Gunj on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, the MP appreciated the Mayor for launching the programme of constructing 1,000 water harvesting structures to tap every raindrop in the town.

Appealing to people to take up the construction of rainwater harvesting structures in each house in the town, he said that conservation of water would recharge the groundwater table and solve water crisis during summer. He promised to take all measures to include Karimnagar town in the smart city list of the Union Government.

Mr. Kamalakar said they would take all measures to prevent accidents caused by massive hoardings in the town by taking up inspection to ensure people’s safety. He said they were taking up road beautification work on Jagtial, Sircilla and Peddapalli roads with central LED lighting, footpaths, drainage system etc.
