A three-day conference, ‘Yuva FOGSI South Zone 2016’, organised by Madurai Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society (MOGS) under the theme ‘Obstetric Dilemmas’, concluded on Sunday.

According to Senthiru Ramachandran, organising secretary of the conference, the workshop included sessions on obstetric emergency skills and practical obstetrics.

“In the present scenario, it has become important for the doctors to be familiar with legal aspects. Therefore, we had organised a session on medico-legal cases as well,” Dr. Senthiru said.

“We invited senior advocates and experts from insurance companies for the session,” she said.

She said that the target audience of the conference were young doctors. “The idea was to provide them an exposure to the latest developments in the field and provide a platform to interact with veterans,” she said.

The organisers said that more than a hundred people from the southern States attended the sessions.

Faculty members had come from all over the country, they added.

S. Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, inaugurated the conference in the presence of Dean of Madurai Medical College and Government Rajaji Hospital M.R. Vairamuthu Raju and Dean of Karur Medical College Revwathy Kailairajan.
