‘Acquire land based on expert report’

High Court former judge Justice B. Chandra Kumar said that the government cannot acquire land under GO 123 and it need to implement Land Acquisition Act – 2013 and extend benefits under that.

Addressing the agitating villagers at Etigaddakishtapur on Sunday, Justice Chandrakumar said that the government has to pay compensation four times to the market value in addition to extending other benefits. He has suggested the villagers that they can get the money deposited in the court and take it ‘under protest’ and continue their fight for higher compensation. Stating that the project need to be taken up based on expert committee report, he wanted to know the details of the project report.
