Biodiversity is essential for the survival of mankind on earth, G. Srinivasa Rao, director of State Adult Education State Centre, has said. He was addressing students of Upper Primary School at Yendadada on Sunday at a programme organised to mark International Day for Biological Diversity.

He said that many species had already become extinct and it was our duty to protect at least the remaining ones. Headmaster G. Ravi spoke on the measures to be considered to maintain ecological balance.

Students displayed a variety of posters as part of an exhibition organised on the occasion.

Teachers including S. Tirumala Rao and Nageswara Rao also participated.
