Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday said he would initiate steps for a 50-bed Employees State Insurance Corporation Hospital and a Regional Provident Fund office at Nirmal in Adilabad district.

“I am told that a new government hospital has come up in Nirmal and that there is space on the campus for an additional facility exclusively for ESI beneficiaries. I will talk to my officers concerned, have an initial inspection done and see that the request from Telangana’s Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy becomes a reality soon,” he promised, at a press conference here that he jointly addressed with Mr. Reddy.

Earlier, Mr. Reddy said the lot of beedi workers who were predominantly working in Bhainsa, Nirmal, Ghanapur and Utnoor urgently needed to be improved. Currently, they had to travel 160 km to Karimnagar for any issues regarding PF, he said, justifying his request for a regional office in Nirmal. He also urged Mr. Dattatreya to use his good offices to see that beedi workers got houses under what was earlier Indira Awaaz Yojana.

Responding on Mr. Reddy’s proposals, the Union Minister recalled that ‘Housing for All by 2022 was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
