Ex-DGP Samar pens book on terrorism era

Retired 1967-batch IPS and former Punjab DGP Samar Vijay Singh, who had played a key role in staving off Khalistan terrorism in 1980s and 1990s, has authored a book on his experiences in combating militancy and vigilance cases of corruption.

Chandigarh: Retired 1967-batch IPS and former Punjab DGP Samar Vijay Singh, who had played a key role in staving off Khalistan terrorism in 1980s and 1990s, has authored a book on his experiences in combating militancy and vigilance cases of corruption.
The book 'The Lasting Reflections' was launched at the UT guest house in Chandigarh on Sunday.
Singh had played an instrumental role in investigations into the then high profile case of corrupt activities at Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) and its chairman.

"The book is a reflection of my experiences which shaped my personaility and helped in taking myriad challenges in the line of duty. It is not a diary or a journal but remiscnences of my cases and the years of duties from Faridkot in Punjab to Bokaro in now Jharkhand," said Singh.
Singh, a mining engineer from Indian School of Mines in Dhanbad, has had an illustrious career with the Intelligence Bureau, where he handled key assignments with national and international dignitaries.
The book mentions his tenure as SSP in Faridkot, the hometown of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, before Operation Bluestar. Singh had also served as DIG of the CISF.
