Bengaluru: Who stole Buran's baby boy?

The police registered a kidnapping case and have formed a special team to trace the missing infant.

Bengaluru: A nine-month-old baby boy went missing mysteriously near Annansandrapalya near HAL police limits early on Saturday morning.
Buran, a daily wage labourer, his wife and the child came to the city from Yadgir only recently, and were staying in a temporary shed. Buran told the police that on Friday night, his wife fed the baby and made him sleep.

After finishing the dinner, the couple too went to sleep around 12.30 am. The baby was sleeping between the couple. But, when they got up around 3.30 am, they found the baby missing.

After a frantic search for hours, they approached the HAL police station and filed a complaint. The police registered a kidnapping case and have formed a special team to trace the missing infant.

“There are many aspects to this case. A team will leave for Yadgir on Monday to collect information from the family. The couple, who are new to the city, came here just last week. We are probing all angles,” said a senior police officer.

Baby abandoned on BMTC bus
A three-month-old baby girl was found abandoned in a parked BMTC bus at Kempegowda Bus Stand on Sunday morning. The Upparpet police, who were alerted, handed over the child to BOSCO childcare.

The child, wrapped in a bed sheet and newspaper, was found behind the driver’s seat. The bus driver, who had gone to attend nature’s call, returned to the vehicle and found the baby around 5.30 am. He informed the senior management, who in turn called the police.

The bus, which was to head towards Kudlu Gate on Hosur Road, was about to leave the bus stand when the driver noticed the child. The police are going through the CCTV footage to trace the person who abandoned the child. The police have launched a helpline – BOSCO 080 2294 2503 – to share information.

The child helpline received over 50 adoption calls on Sunday. A Childline team member said, “After the news broke, nearly 50 people called us asking the child for adoption. But as per rules, we will hand over the baby to the Child Welfare Committee.”
