Woman jumps to death, boy’s body recovered

POONCH/ RAJOURI, May 22: While a woman jumped to death from a bridge in Mankote area of Mendhar today, the dead body of a minor boy who was drowned in a river in Nowshera area was recovered last evening.
Reports from Mendhar said that 40 year-old Salima Bi, wife of Mohd Qasim, resident of Sagra village in Mankote after small tiff at home,  jumped down from the bridge and drowned in nallah this afternoon. Some people saw her jumping down the bridge and later fished out her body. She was mother of three children. The family claimed that she was mentally disturbed.
Police party  from Mendhar led by SHO,  Anzir Mir reached the spot and removed victim’s body to Sub District Hospital Mendhar for postmortem. A case has been registered in this connection. Further investigation was in progress.
Meanwhile,  the dead body of 14 year-old Navneet Kumar, son of Tilak Raj, resident of Beri Pattan in Nowshera, who was drowned two days back in river, was recovered last evening.  The boy had gone to take bath in the river at Beri Pattan but drowned in there.   The locals failed to trace the body. Later, Army divers from Udhampur were pressed into operation on the request of local police and they managed to fish out the dead body of the boy. After completion of legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family by police.
