When Delhi-based Hindi rock band Agastya performed in Jaipur, the band members were of the opinion that in organising such live acts, Jaipur matches up quite well to the capital. Belting out one hit after the other, the band performed in front of the crowd at Indralok Auditorium on Friday . The event was part of the series of cultural events organised to commemorate the eighth anniversary celebration of the Times Of India, Jaipur.
Joshua Moses, the lead vocalist of the band, said he received a very warm welcome in the city. “Itna warm welcome tha ki do baar nahaana pad gaya,” he joked, adding, “I’ve performed in Jaipur a lot of times and I love the audience here.” The band played songs like Kabira, Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyar Ke Charche, Ek Tara, Damadam Mast Kalandar, Kinna Sohna Tenu, Saawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag, among others.
Jaipur may not be the ideal city for upcoming rock bands to set base, but Joshua is of the opinion that the situation isn’t that bad either. “I have seen a lot of rock bands that have mushroomed in the last couple of years in Jaipur. A few of them have even collaborated with us on some projects. I think Jaipur is no less than Delhi, but it’s necessary to organise rock gigs on a regular basis here and also having popular rock bands from Delhi and Mumbai perform here. This will help create a hype about rock music.”
Diksha Tickoo, who was present at the gig, said, “They put up a good show and I totally enjoyed it.” Another guest Bhumika Juneja, added, “I always look forward to new gigs. I think they did a wonderful job and we enjoyed the evening to the fullest.”
