Dushyant Singh was returning to his Mira Road home from his usual morning walk, when he was informed by his security guard that one of his favourite stray dog has died. Later, when they inquired further, the shocking news of 15 dogs being poisoned came to light.

The CCTV camera had captured a local butcher named Shyamlal Badal allegedly bringing poisonous meat from a bag and feeding them it to dogs. Singh tried to register an FIR against Badal, but the police refused due to lack of eyewitnesses. Later on, Singh found the bag at the scene which was then considered as an evidence.

Singh then took help of Pawa India, an animal welfare and rights NGO to get the man behind the bars. A post-mortem report declared that the dogs were indeed poisoned by pesticides filled meat. He did it because they used to attack his goats and pigs. Shyamlal was arrested, owever he was released on bail immediately because it was a bailable offence.
This is not the first time animal cruelty has shocked the country.h
A Bengaluru woman killed eight puppies just to teach their mother a lesson.
Due to weak animal cruelty laws, the accused are been released on a petty bail amount. It’s about time the laws get stricter to keep such heinous crime in check.
