Businessman held for firing in the air to scare partner

The K.R. Puram police have arrested a 45-year-old businessman, who fired a pistol in the air at his office in Devasandra on Saturday in an attempt to threaten his business partner with whom he had a financial dispute. There were no casualties as all those present in the office ran for cover.

The police arrested Ravi Kumar before seizing his licensed pistol. The accused has been charged with attempt to murder.

According to the police, the incident occurred at Ravi Kumar’s office, RKM Sand and Aggregates (a construction material supply firm), on Devasandra Main Road, at around 2.30 p.m.

Girish Babu, a resident of Hosur, and a business partner of Ravi Kumar, had come to the latter’s office to demand his share in the profits, which had been long-pending.

A heated argument followed , the police said. In a bid to threaten Mr. Babu, Ravi Kumar pulled out his pistol, and fired at the ceiling of his office located on the first floor of a commercial complex. Mr. Babu and the rest of the staff immediately ran out to save themselves.
