Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic will not celebrate if he scores against former side Sevilla in today’s Copa del Rey final.
The two teams meet at the Vicente Calderon both looking for their second trophies of the season.
The Catalans are after a record 28th Spanish Cup success to go with their La Liga title win, while Sevilla are hoping to land a second trophy in five days after their Europa League final triumph over Liverpool.
Rakitic has established himself as a key figure at the Nou Camp since his 2014 move from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, where he spent three and a half seasons.
And the Croatian still has affection for his former club.
Asked about games against Sevilla, he said at a press conference: “It’s always special. But this time it’s even more special, be-cause it’s a final.
“I wouldn’t (celebrate if I scored). Out of respect for the fans of Sevilla. On Wednesday, I celebrated Sevilla winning, but on Sunday (today) I want to beat them.
“Finishing the season with the double would be brilliant.”
Barca enjoyed a stunning end to the domestic season, winning their last five games with a goal difference of plus 24.
Sevilla, in contrast, lost seven of their last nine league games, while they also have had fewer days to prepare for the match than Luis Enrique’s side, because of their European commitments.
