CBSE XII result: Lucknow cancer survivor scores high

When all other students were busy preparing for the final exams, 19 years old Shubhank Shukla, a student of DAV Public School, BRS Nagar was undergoing chemotherapy to fight with Acute Lymphatic leukemia (ALL)- a type of cancer. However fighting all odds, Shubhank managed to score 83 percent marks in the class XII- Non-medical stream.

LUDHIANA: When all other students were busy preparing for the final exams, 19 years old Shubhank Shukla, a student of DAV Public School, BRS Nagar was undergoing chemotherapy to fight with Acute Lymphatic leukemia (ALL)- a type of cancer. However, fighting all odds, Shubhank managed to score 83 percent marks in the class XII-Non-medical stream.
Shubhank who hails from Lucknow shifted here in the city last year.
The very first challenge for their parents was to get him admission in a good school as she was an average student because of his health issues. However understanding his medical condition DAV Public School, BRS Nagar accepted him and gave him admission in class XII.
Talking to TOI over phone, Sbhubhank said, “I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic leukemia (ALL), which is a type of cancer, in class VI. This diseased stopped my growth and made me skinny. I was unable to stand or to walk for a long time.”
Shubhank was admitted in Leelawati Hospiptal, Mumbai and SGPGI Hospital, Lucknow for a long time. In the meanwhile his father, Vigyaneshwar Shukla, who presently is the zonal head of Bank of India, got transferred in Ludhiana.
“My treatment was going on but soon after coming to Ludhiana I started recovering. I have undergone chemotherapy and I used to miss classes but I am glad that my school and my teachers supported me. They used to teach me in extra classes for that I can cover up my syllabus” shared Shubhank.
Moreover, with the help of teachers Shubhank managed to score 83 percent marks, as earlier he was an average student.
“I am quite happy that now I am back to normal. I have recovered now and started scoring good marks. I really thank my school and my parents who never gave up on me” he added.

Shubhank’s father Vigyaneshwar Shukla said, “I have always believed in my son and was confident enough that he would fight with all odds. I am proud of him as he has remained so optimistic and tough.”
Shubhank says that his aim is to become Certified Information system Auditor (CISA) but prior to that he would pursue BCom and MBA degree.
In the end Shubhank gives a message, “Like an arrow- when life pushes you back, it mean it is going to launch you into something great.”
