Tirumala: The 608th birth anniversary celebrations of saint-poet Annamacharya began on Saturday in Tirupati. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) conducted Srinivasa Kalyanotsavam at Tallapaka, the native village of Annamacharya.
TTD announced that it will record more 'Keertans' composed by the saint poet. TTD executive officer D Sambasiva Rao said that Annamacharya wrote about 32,000 'Keetans'.
About 14,000 of them are now available. The TTD composed and recorded about 1,700 songs so far, he said, adding that more Keetans will be recorded soon.
TTD has been conducting Annamacharya Jayanti and Vardanti every year at Tirupati, Tirumala and Tallapaka, he added. The TTD began the telecast of Annamaiah Pataku Pattabhishekam, a programme designed by Trust Board member and film director K Raghavendra Rao, on Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC).
