CBSE Class XII: State students score maximum pass again

The Thiruvananthapuram CBSE region, comprising schools in Kerala and Lakshadweep, has secured the highest pass percentage of 97.61 among regions in the Class XII examination, the results of which were announced on Saturday. The overall pass percentage in the examination is 83.

Kochi: The Thiruvananthapuram CBSE region, comprising schools in Kerala and Lakshadweep, has secured the highest pass percentage of 97.61 among regions in the Class XII examination, the results of which were announced on Saturday. The overall pass percentage in the examination is 83.05 as against 82 last year.
The Chennai region came second at 92.63%. Delhi girl Sukriti Gupta topped the examination by scoring 497/500 (99.4%), followed by Palak Goel of Haryana at 496 marks.
The third position was shared by Somy Uppal of Haryana and Ajish Sekar of Chennai (495 marks). The overall pass percentage of girls was 88.58 and boys 78.85.
Thiruvananthapuram region is securing the highest pass percentage for the third consecutive year. As many as 32,485 students from 616 schools had appeared for the examination, of whom around 27,150 were from private schools. The pass percentage of the region last year was 95.4.
"We have been performing well all these years. Also, our pass percentage is much higher than Chennai this time," said Mahesh D Dharmadhikari, joint secretary and regional officer, CBSE, Thiruvananthapuram.
The region has secured the highest pass percentage of 97.4% among differently-abled students too. Bhubaneswar region came second in the category with 92%. Girls in Thiruvananthapuram region scored a pass percentage of 99.03 and boys 96.26.
The Thiruvananthapuram region was established in November 2013 and students in the state came under the Chennai region till then.
A total of 10,65,179 students had registered nationwide for the examination, held from March 1 to April 16 this year.
The results can be accessed on three websites -- www.results.nic.in, www.cbseresults.nic.in and www.cbse.nic.in. Starting this year, the board will provide digital mark sheets in DigiLocker atwww.digilocker.gov.in. The DigiLocker account credentials will be sent to students via SMS.
