Jaipur: Chinmay Mehta of Jayshree Periwal High School in Jaipur has scored 97.8% marks in Class XII commerce result announced on Saturday. Data from the sources till the last report came in said that Mehta was leading in the state.
Mehta scored 100 marks in economics, 100 in physical education, 98 in BST, 96 in English and 95 in maths. Mehta's long term goal is to become a businessman in manufacturing sector.
He expected to score around 95% but the result came as a surprise for him. He is preparing for CA. "My plan B is to apply at Sri Ram College of Commerce at Delhi University," said Mehta. While he is happy to have the best score of life in class XII, the only disappointment is that he has to leave one of his only two hobbies.
"My hobbies are to watch and play cricket. I had made a promise to myself that I will stop playing cricket and will only watch it during my exams. Earlier, my aim was to become a cricketer but I have realised that it has a limited scope," said Mehta, who has played cricket at state level.
He added, "No matter how good you play, you are expected to choose a traditional career path which can fetch you name and money." When asked what he will miss when he would move out of Jaipur for further studies, he replied, "Home cooked food and roadside food. I am a big foodie."
My advice to students who will appear in the board exams in future is that they should rely only on NCERT books. "NCERT books push you to think hard while other refresher books have everything from graphics, tables, data etc which stop your thinking," said Mehta.
