Another long week draws to a close and it is Sunday once more, which means it is time for a dose of all that happened in the South film industries this week. This week was more balanced than most others for this time Mollywood also had a lot to say other than Tollywood and Kollywood. Movie wise, it was not a very good week for Telugu film industry but an excellent one for Malayalam. So, let us take a look at what all transpired in all three industries in the past week... On Monday, the most crucial Tamil Nadu state elections were held. Every actor from K-town like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Ajith Kumar, Vishal, Arya, Suriya, Hansika Motwani, Sasikumar, Karthi, Sivakumar, Akshara Haasan, Vijayakanth, Sivakarthikeyan, Vivek, Jiiva, Gautham Menon and many others got their fingers inked and proudly displayed the fact they cast their votes and inspired all. It was a strong and powerful reminder for the people of Tamil Nadu to exercise their basic right. Jr NTR's birthday and Janatha Garage first look

On May 20, Telugu superstar Jr NTR celebrated his 33 birthday. It was a big day for the Young Rebel Tiger, because just a day before he unveiled the first look of his upcoming movie Janatha Garage. So, his special day started on a high note with people appreciating the first looks and the positive feedback combined with the never ending birthday wishes made it really special for him. He has started 2016 with a hit and looks like there is no stopping the actor for now.

Release of Mahesh Babu's Brahmotsavam

The biggest event of all happened on Friday. The most anticipated release of Tollywood this year, Brahmotsavam finally released. But it was actually an anticlimax for all Mahesh Babu fans as the film turned out to be one jumbled mess of happy moments. It was obviously not very well received by both audience and critics alike and what was supposed to be a utsavam turned out to be a curse for Mahesh Babu. Looks like his curse of delivering flops with a director he works for the second time with continues.

Release of Dulquer Salmaan's Kammattipaadam

The underdog of the win ended up winning everyone's hearts, the Dulquer Salmaan starrer Kammattipaadam. The film released along with Brahmotsavam, but still it is the crime actioner that the people are rooting for. Great performances from Dulquer, Manikandan and Vinayak along with a brilliant screenplay won the respect and admiration of all the critics. Getting highly positive reviews, it is Mollywood which is waving the flag of victory this week.

Mohanlal's birthday celebrations

On Saturday, the entire country witnessed the spectacle that was Mohanlal's birthday. Fans of Lalettan went berserk on Twitter as they rooted for their favourite actor. Also, right on cue, three filmmakers decided to release their teasers and first looks today as a tribute for the veteran actor and a treat for his fans. One was the teaser of Pulimurugan, while another was a poster of Janatha Garage and last was the first look of Manamantha. Needless to say, it was one of the most glorious birthdays for the actor.
