AIADMK functionaries' vehicles set on fire at Kalugumalai and Tuticorin

Tuticorin: It appears that some people are not ready to allow AIADMK functionaries to celebrate their assembly victory in full swing. Some miscreants set fire to the vehicle and shed of AIADMK functionary in Kalugumalai in Tuticorin district on Friday night. On the same night at Tuticorin city, petrol bombs were hurled at an AIADMK functionary house and two wheeler of another party worker was torched.
Kalugumalai Town AIADMK youth wing secretary, Muthuraj runs a matches manufacturing unit in the town. On Saturday morning when the family woke up, they found that a two wheeler, cycle and grinder kept in front yard of the house were torched by some miscreants. Muthuraj filed a police complaint with Kalugumalai police. On Thursday night some people damaged MGR statue in the town and damaged the car of AIADMK town secretary, Gopi. Alleging that DMK cadre unable to tolerate election results are indulging in such violence, huge number of AIADMK party workers staged a road roko at busy Kalugumalai - Kovilpatti road. They demanded immediate arrest of miscreants. After police and revenue department officials negotiate with them, they withdrew their protest. Police sources at Kalugumalai said that they have filed cases in this regard and looking out for people involving in these activities.
Meanwhile at Tuticorin, some miscreants threw petrol bomb at an AIADMK functionary Chinnadurai's house at Mutharammankoil Street in Rajagopal Nagar. Chinnadurai is local AIADMK functionary and upon hearing the blast sound, the family ran out of the house. Fire and Rescue department was alerted and fire was doused. A two wheeler and shed in front of the house were burnt in the attack. In another incident few streets away in the locality, somebody set fire to a two wheeler of AIADMK party worker, Pitchaiah. The vehicle was parked in front of his house. Both party workers field complaints with SIPCOT police station and investigation is underway to nab the culprits, according to police.
