CBSE results: Swimmer, footballer excel on exam pitch

A national-level swimmer, Mani Mehtab Dhaliwal of Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, secured 94.2% in the non-medical stream in the CBSE Class XII exams.

Chandigarh: A national-level swimmer, Mani Mehtab Dhaliwal of Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, secured 94.2% in the non-medical stream in the CBSE Class XII exams.
Daughter of S Baljinder Singh Dhaliwal, chief auditor, co-operation department, Punjab, Mani has participated in more than a dozen national tournaments and brought laurels to the city.
She has won over 150 medals in various state and district level swimming tournaments.
Despite her sports engagements, she had not joined any coaching institute for preparation and opted for science to realize her dream of serving the nation in defence services. She had earlier scored 10 CGPA in Class X and has been active in co-curricular activities too.
Krishna Pandit, a footballer from St John's High School, Sector 26, scored 69.4% in commerce despite his busy schedule in the game. The 17-year-old used to spend most of his time in the field and gym. He wants to become a successful soccer player. Son of a businessman from Sector 38, Krishna is hoping to make his way to big soccer clubs and represent India. Previously he was been part of India football squad in under 14 category.
His mother Bharti Sharma said, "One we thought to discontinue his school, but the principal supported him a lot. We want him to do well in football.
